What America should know about ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

What Legal Americans Should Know About Illegal Immigration

(From someone that deals with it daily)

1.  an act or instance of invading or entering as an enemy, esp. by an army

2.  the entrance or advent of anything troublesome or harmful, as disease.

3.  entrance as if to take possession or overrun

4.  infringement by intrusion

citizen [sit-uh-zuh n] –noun

1.   a native or naturalized member of a state or nation who owes allegiance to its government and is entitled to its protection (distinguished from alien)

2.   an inhabitant of a city or town, esp. one entitled to its privileges or franchises

Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1) - Cite This Source

parasite  [par-uh-sahyt< SPAN>] –noun

1.  an organism that lives on or in an organism of another species, known as the host, from the body of which it obtains nutriment

2.  a person who receives support, advantage, or the like, from another or others without giving any useful or proper return, as one who lives on the hospitality of others

Given the definitions listed above, which more accurately describes the 12 million illegal 'immigrants' that America is currently dealing with?  If you answered 'all of the above' you win the big prize!  I am so sick of seeing illegal immigrants on the nightly news screaming for more rights and amnesty.   First of all, they have no rights.  They are not protected by the constitution as they are not legal CITIZENS.  They are illegal aliens, and like cockroaches, they crawl in through the cracks and reproduce at insane rates while giving nothing in return.  They do not deserve amnesty for coming here illegally in the first place and should not be rewarded for breaking our laws by their very presence in this country.

Allow me to give you some terrifying info from someone who must work with illegal aliens every day.  I work in a jail.  A relatively large county jail with approx. 4,000 inmates at any given time, but most staying for a short while before being released to the street or being remanded to the state prisons.  My jail, as well as our state prisons, are extremely over-crowded and a large portion of our 'residents' are indeed, illegal.  I would estimate that for every 50 illegal aliens that come through our door, only ONE per that 50 will be detained, or even interviewed by the Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS or ICE).  I run criminal histories on many of our inmates, from local, state and even FBI (NCIC) records.  Many of these inmates are return offenders.  Their histories will even flag them as illegal, some even have Homeland Security 'inadmissible alien' flags, but yet immigration does nothing.  Sometimes I will see where the inmate has been deported one or more times, and yet they are back.  The fastest I've seen was an illegal alien that was deported to Mexico, and yet two months later, they were not only back in America, but back in our jail as well.  And we are not even a bordering state!

(The Trojan Pinata)

I recently saw where, after the creation of the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency), the rate of American-made controlled substances dropped significantly.  A special on The Discovery Channel gives an 80% rate of controlled substances coming directly over the Mexican border.  That is a huge amount of drugs coming in and millions of American dollars going out for illegal aliens trafficking Marijuana, methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine.  A most prolific life for the average Mexican farmers who may only bring home only $1,500 a year for toiling in fields twenty hours a day but just one trafficking run over the border can keep them comfortably for YEARS in their own country.  But yet, that is not enough.  They want more.  And we give it to them.  Not only are our children being killed by these drugs, but those children are being quickly replaced by more illegal aliens and their families receiving more rights than most American citizens receive, and they have earned NONE of it.

Our immigration laws must change.  They are out-dated and they are now working against legal American citizens.  I hear the argument that "America is a melting pot that would not exist without immigration".  That statement would be true IF it specified LEGAL immigration.  My grandmother still tells me about when my family came to America in the early 20th century.  They came to Ellis Island with nothing but the clothes on their back and the dream of living in a free country.  They stayed at Ellis Island for months.  The Lithuanian half of my family had to change their names to a more anglicized version.  They had to learn the language, get a job, work hard, and wait for their citizenship to be approved.  They would have never even considered demanding rights and services they had not earned or deserved, because they were simply happy to be here.  They certainly did NOT jump over the border at 8 months pregnant so that the baby could be born on American soil, and thereby automatically have citizenship, so the parents could also stay in American AND COLLECT WELFARE.  Oh and then  because they may not get free medical to deliver the kid from the mother that shouldn't be here in the first place.  I know Americans who work two jobs or more to take care of their family so they won't have to collect welfare.  Let me give you that illegal number again:  12,000,000.  To give you a better understanding of this figure, that is about 2 million more people than all the citizens of the entire country of Ireland.

Now let's talk about the American tax-payer.  Do you work hard for your paycheck?  Yeah, I do too.  And it disgusts me to know that the hard-earned money I work for is going to people who don't belong here.  The illegal inmates I talk to in the jail tell me they work and have jobs.  That's funny because they don't have social security numbers.  I ask them flat out:  "Do you pay taxes?" and the answer is always "No".  Great…. You're taking our jobs, not paying taxes and taking money you didn't earn from those who did.  While we're at it, why don't you go ahead and apply for disability and HUD?  Oh, right.  They already do.  And a lot of them get it.

Not convinced yet?  OK.  Let's say ¼ of the inmates in my jail are illegal.  Try to understand the taxes that go toward keeping them and trying them as if they were American citizens.  You have the cops that must go out, find these people and arrest them.  You have the corrections officers at the jail that have to take care of them.  Of course, we must provide them with reasonable comfort in our jail, which includes cable TV, various programs such as AA and Domestic Violence classes, in their native language of course, and three square meals a day.  We have to provide them with the religious books of choice, again in their language.  You have all of the records personnel responsible for the paper trail and updates on the cases.  They have to verify each inmate via fingerprints so you have people and technology in the FBI working on that.  There are people like me, who have to interview and run full backgrounds on all of them.  And we wouldn't want them to not get their daily dose of Tylenol so we will keep a full staff of nurses and doctors 24 hours a day.  You have the judges, the public defenders, the district attorneys, the court clerks, the court accountants and the interpreters that must work on each case for however many months or years it lasts.  And now we're over-crowded so we need to come up with more money to build a bigger jail (again!) because the people that are here illegally are complaining about the accommodations.  I am not speaking of only Mexicans or Cubans, but all illegal aliens.  Has anyone ever seen a jail in other countries?  They are lucky to get a blanket and toilet paper.  Here, we give them the jail equivalent of the Hilton.  And since they don't pay taxes, they always have plenty of money to either bail themselves out (especially since INS won't put detainers on them) or hire private attorneys that most American citizens can't afford.  Nice, huh?  Maybe America should create a contract with the native countries.  Instead of us building more and more jails and prisons here, send them back to the darkest, nastiest jails we can find in their OWN countries.  I understand whining is not acceptable there.  And how about we make sure felons and sex offenders are removed from the country instead of letting them get their education and citizenship for free via prison courses.  Really, we have enough felons and sex-offenders of our own to contend with.  In 2006, 536,000 illegal aliens were listed as fugitives from Justice (USA Today).  In a perfect world, a micro-chip would be placed deep within their spine (harder to get taken out) so we know when they come back across our borders.  Because they WILL be back.

(Illegal Aliens March for Amnesty in Los Angeles)

Wow!  STILL not convinced?  OK.  Let's talk about kids and schools.  I had a guy the other day that I called up to interview and it says his place of birth is Los Angeles.  Imagine my surprise when he didn't speak English!  Not one word.  I had my buddy (who does speaks Spanish, and so also gets paid more) to ask him if he knew Los Angeles is not yet officially part of Mexico.  And when people come in and ask me, "you speak Spanish?"  No.  Even if I did, I wouldn't.  Why?  Because I shouldn't have to! Many years ago when I worked for Club Med (legally, and with a work visa), I was living in southern Mexico for three months.  I didn't speak Spanish and so I was completely ignored.  Like a ghost.  Well, I deserved it.  When I went to France, I had to speak French!  But here, you are expected to speak Spanish like it was official language.  Give it time!  It soon will be!

Back to the subject of kids and education, we have schools here that require ALL students to learn in English in the morning and Spanish in the afternoon.  Many of those students are here illegally or were born here to illegal parents.  And why don't they have to learn just English?  If the parents don't speak English, the kids would still learn Spanish at home if needed.  Once again, American tax-payers foot the bill for more schools to be built, more teachers to be hired and all the costs you can imagine affiliated with a public education system.  You may think that the child portion of that 12-million figure isn't so big, but try to remember… most Spanish aliens coming into our country are old-school Catholic.  That means, no birth control.  Anyone want to calculate the reproduction rate for that 12-million?  Especially when we're giving them more free money for each kid they have.  And in typical, arrogant American fashion, our government won't do anything about over-population until it is too late.  China set a good example of what can happen to a crowded country with no limitations on population, either born or invaded.  I won't even go into the contribution to American's gang problems.

If you haven't figured out the point of this letter, America needs to wake up and stop feeling sorry for these people!!  Immigration needs to be reformed and updated.  Our borders need to be more protected.  For lack of a better example (I don't agree with the reasoning, but I do agree with the results!), the Berlin Wall did exactly what it was suppose to do.  It deterred, and if necessary physically stopped, people from coming in or going out through tight controls.  Extremely difficult, physical barriers should be built at the absolute minimum.  Shooting?  Well, it would stop them, wouldn't it?  Why does everyone flinch when this subject comes up?  If we shared a border with Iraq or Afghanistan, would we be so lackadaisical about protecting ourselves?  Of course, if we DID share a border with Iraq or Afghanistan, they would have already taken over and we would living in a very different world right now.  I have always thought the Native Americans got the crappy end of the deal when the white-man came.  Maybe its ancestral Karma, but now we know what it feels like.  I wonder how long it will be before we will be forced onto reservations and forced to speak a new language.

America has become a joke and laughing stock to the rest of the world.  Actually, even as a citizen, America has become a joke.  I went in the military at 17 years old.  I was active during Gulf War I, though I never saw combat.  I was more than happy, and extremely proud to serve my country.  I felt it was my duty.  I admit now, I was very naïve.  I thought I was going to keep America free and help oppressed people that needed (and actually WANTED) our help.  I never would have done so if I had known I was fighting for the rights of people who come to this country in the most dishonest way, then demand to be treated as equals to legal American citizens as well as a free meal ticket.  When the Irish came to America in the mid-1800's because of the potato famine, they were immediately taken off the boats, given guns, and sent to fight in the American civil war.  It wasn't their war, but the did it. They earned the right to be here.  Many died, lost limbs, and lost family members.   THEY contributed because they had a firm belief that America was worth fighting for, not just something automatically owed to everyone who comes here.  I see thousands of these illegal 'immigrants' marching in the streets demanding more rights and amnesty.  In what other country can you march with our flag under another country's flag, yell complaints about perceived rights and slights in any language you want, and have no fear of arrest or deportation?  Only in America.  In fact, instead of rounding them up and taking them right back to the border, our inefficient (and often invisible) Immigration and Naturalization Service are told not to interfere.  We're so damn worried about Homeland Security and people flying with more than 3 ounces of shampoo in their carry-on, and yet we continue to leave the backdoor wide open.  This is the joke.  Are you laughing?  Will American citizens not stop this before we become one of the third-world countries these people are so eager to leave?  At this point, I only wish it was as easy to get into another country, like Ireland or the United Kingdom.  I'd be long gone by now.  I wonder how the government would pay for all the illegals if all the legals moved away.

People don't believe one person can make a difference in our country any more.  I would really like to prove them wrong.  I may be only one person against 12 million, but with the power of the Internet, and good ol' American pride, I'm hoping that enough of us together can make that difference.  I will be sending this letter on to my Congressmen, Senators, Governor and any other political groups that can use this information to stop this growing cancer on America.  If you have read this and are as aggravated and frustrated as I am, please feel free to pass this along.  The more, the better!  And again, if you think 12 million just isn't that many, I offer the following maps and sobering statistics (from World Net Daily, April 28, 2006) in closing.

Interesting illegal-immigration statistics

Here are some statistics from the Los Angeles Times:

40 percent of all workers are working for cash and not paying taxes. Why would they want to be legal and pay taxes? They would be able to start bringing the rest of their families to the USA.

75 percent of people on L.A.'s most-wanted list are illegal aliens.

Over two-thirds of all births are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by the taxpayers.

Nearly 25 percent of all inmates in California detention centers are here illegally.

Over 300,000 illegals are living in garages.

The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegals from south of the border.

Nearly 60 percent of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

Of the 10 million people in Los Angeles County, 5.1 million speak English and 3.9 million speak Spanish.

21 radio stations in Los Angeles are Spanish speaking.

More statistics:

Less than 2 percent of illegals are picking crops but 29 percent are on welfare.

Over 70 percent of the U.S. annual population growth (over 90 percent of California, Florida and New York) are from immigration.

29 percent of inmates in the federal prisons are illegal aliens.

The lifetime fiscal impact (taxes minus services used) for the average adult Mexican immigrant is a negative.

They also send between about $15 billion back to Mexico to assist their families and prop up the corrupt Mexican government that keeps most of its citizens in poverty. How about a revolt in their own country!

A new figure from yesterday: It cost Los Angeles $276 million in welfare costs for 100,000 children of illegal aliens.

March Madness!!

Hi there oh loyal blogland buddies!  Now that the month of March is almost over, I figured I'd better get on here and put on all the news and updates for the month of March!  It seems like I've been very busy but I know as soon as I sit down to blog, I forget half of what I wanted to say!  So bear with me... there may be additions later!

First and foremost... GO GATORS!!!  After winning BOTH the basketball AND football championships last year, and of course not wanting to let down us fans, we are once again in the Final Four!!  Kick ass!  Way to go boys!  You can do it again!!

UPDATE!!!   WE DID DO IT AGAIN!!  WAY TO GO GATORS!!!!!

Meanwhile, back in my own personal hell.... more doctors and more issues.  Sigh.  More Xrays, more blood work, more MRI's.  I'm surprised I'm not glowing in the dark by now!  As for the neck and upper back, I'm in lots of pain and have missed way too much work.  But by the end of the night, I'm in agony.  I visited my neurosurgeon (that did both my lower back surgeries and my mom's neck surgery) and basically I'm just going to have to learn to live with it until it gets to the point where we have no other choice but to operate.  He says we're not to that point yet.  I differed in opinion, but what can we do!  So.... suck it up, take pain pills and anti-inflamatories and hope I can make it through my shifts, as I'm out of leave time.  That's the one problem with being at a new job.  After 13 years with the City, I accrued leave a lot faster than I do here with the County.  We were also on 10 hour shifts so there were 3 day weekends to help recover.  The only thing I miss from my last job were the long weekends and big paychecks.  But that's all I miss.  I don't miss getting up at 4:30 in the morning (I've always been happiest working the vampire shifts!) and I don't miss all the stupid political crap and kiss-asses getting more credit and opportunities than the hard-working people that actually get stuff done.  Yes, I was terrified about working with almost all women when I took the civilian job with the court, but I've gotten used to it and I actually LIKE my cowokers!  And being that I am in the jail working with people I went to the academy with, I must say that after a year-and-a-half, I still like my job.  Never a dull moment and ALWAYS work to be done so I don't have time to get into (too much) mischief!

Speaking of work, I think I mentioned it in a previous entry that "COPS" has been filming here in our jail for about the past 2 months.  They are doing a spin-off called "AMERICA BEHIND BARS" and it's suppose to be on Court TV starting in the next couple of weeks (I was told to check on www.courtTV.com for airing dates and times.  Apparently, there were 5 crews in 5 different jails around the country, but the guys were telling me that most of the stuff that will be used is coming straight out of our jail.  That should be interesting!!  So for everyone out there that wanted to know where I work, be sure to tune in!!  Tonight was the last night of filming and the guys from the show brought us Tshirts and hats, which was really sweet.  I've gotten so used to seeing them and trying to avoid them (yeah like my fat butt needs another 10 lbs added by the camera! NOT!!), it'll be weird not having them around.  At any rate, there was no way to avoid them 100% of the time, and I know they filmed me doing an interview at some point, so if you see a plump, amazon redhead in civies, it's probably me!!  The irony of the whole thing is that I thought if I ever made it on "COPS", I would be a cop!  Not a civilian!  D'oh!!

So St. Patrick's Day was quieter than normal this year.  Yes I went out and enjoyed a few Guinnesses but my drinking buddies from California weren't out here for the first time in years!  And they were definately missed!!  But I talked a bunch of the girls from work into going to the Stephen Lynch concert that night and we had a good time, although Mandalay Bay did NOT make it easy.  They had a fight scheduled the same night and parking was horrible.  One of the girls didn't get to go at all.   I loved the concert but the girls who had never heard his stuff before said they couldn't understand a lot of it.  For a regular concert venue, House of Blues has horrible acoustics!

This past weekend was Palm Springs faire, and for our group (The Royal Spanish Court), its the start of the 2007 faire season.  I didn't go to the faire, first of all because my ex-best friend inserted herself and frankly its not a big enough faire for both of us.  I should have known she would flake out, and I told my group that if she did, I would go.  Yeah, except she waited until the last stinking minute to do just that, and I had less than 2 weeks notice so I couldn't get it off.  Probably just as well I guess because I wound up in bed the whole weekend because of my back, so it's not like I would have been much help anyway.  I am bummed however that after the Jet Blue fiasco, I have no vacation time and that means I won't be able to go to Big Faire in southern Cali next month.  It's been entirely too long since I went to Big faire.  In fact, I think its been about 4 years since I went, but they moved it from San Bernardino to somewhere near Covina I think, and that means we can't camp (nice when we're drinking all day, to just walk across the street to our camp) AND the faire doesn't go through Memorial Day anymore which was the big weekend for all of us.  Last weekend of faire and EVERYbody in our guild would come out as pirates.  I miss the good ol' days.  Then to top it off, I was 'notified' that the parental units are taking every single weekend in August to go camping in Arizona.  That means I won't be able to go to San Diego faire either.  So basically, I'll have Vegas faire here in October and that's all the faire action I'm gonna get this year.  Serious bummer.  But hopefully, I will have lost  at least some weight by then!  I see the endocrinologist at the end of April to find out what's up with my thyroid.  Its hypoproductive at the moment and the medication is a low dosage so hopefully they'll change that.  They also found some sort of growth or lump or whatever on my thyroid, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have to do a biopsy.  We'll see.

Speaking of having NO leave time... there's been some developments in the Jet Blue incident.  I must give credit when its due; they did return the money within a week of our cancelled flight.  They then sent a very personal email thanking me for sharing my BLOG with them (see previous entry).  Last week, they gave us 2 vouchers for free flights to make up for our trouble.  Obviously I don't think there is a way to make up for the disappointment, not to mention using my vacation leave up, but if there's a way to redeem themselves, they've come pretty darn close.  I even received a phone call from THEM calling ME and apologizing.  So mom and I are thinking about trying Washington DC again in September, assuming I have the leave.

March 20th would have been my grandpa's 83rd birthday, so it's a rough time for me and my grandma.  We're still trying to get her to move out here where we can keep an I on her... er, um... take care of her!  That's it.  She's resisting.  I've threatened to drive down there, kidnap her and bring her back here in the RV.  I definately know where me and my mother get our stubborn streak!  Grandpa would have loved my "COPS" hat.  He wore my "Marine Corps Grandpa" tshirt until it was down to the bare threads!

So there it is!  The entire month of March summed up in a few short paragraphs.  Its late, I'm tired (it was my Monday... bleck!) and the pain meds are kicking in, so I'll say adieu for now, unless I think of something later.  Maybe something exciting will happen before the next entry.

BOYCOTT JET BLUE AIRLINES

Boycott Jet Blue Airlines

Good morning to all my friends and blog buddies out there.  Today is Friday, February 16th and in approximately 2 hours, I SHOULD be landing at Dulles International in Washington, DC.  However, since I'm blogging, obviously I'm NOT traveling.  Why is that?  Well... it's because of Jet Blue.  So after I pass on this information, I would appreciate you passing it on to your friends who may be thinking of traveling on Jet Blue in the future.

First, a little history on the planning of this trip.  Back in October 2006, I asked my mom for a vacation as a Christmas / Birthday present.  I used to ask for vacations for Christmas, but with the illnesses and deaths of two close family members in 2004, most of any spare time, was spent back in Florida with family.  Then I Lost my job in October of 2005.  So needless to say, this was going to be my first real vacation (and quality mom/daughter time) since spring of 2005.

I went to Washington DC in May of 1999 with the police department as a member of the national honor guard.  I did a little site-seeing over that weekend, but because we had so many events and activities planned for law enforcement memorial week, we weren't able to do the city justice and didn't dare go NEAR the Smithsonian because I'd never want to leave.  So for the past 8 years, I've been wanting to go back so I could spend a dedicated vacation seeing all the things  I didn't.  After waiting all that time, I was understandably, EXTREMELY excited about this trip.  It was going to be even better because my favorite travel buddy (my mom), was going with me.  We don't get to travel together as much as we used to.  So, over the past six months, we've been making plans.  I even bought a new digital camera yesterday specifically so I would have it for D.C.

So, back to the point.  Why am I blogging about my vacation instead of BEING on my vacation?  One simple answer:  JET BLUE AIRLINES.  Ever since I learned of Jet BLue, I have flown them frequently (specifically back and forth to Long Beach to see friends several times a year).  I'm on their frequent flyer program and I have often recommended them highly  to friends and coworkers.  How much better Jet Blue was over SouthWest, how reasonable their flights were, how great the service was and the friendly employees.  When I saw that Jet Blue was beginning service to Washington DC, I knew it was finally reasonable to ask my mom for this trip.  But in a matter of 48 hours, Jet Blue has ruined the trip that we were so excited about and managed to destroy any SHRED of a reputation they've built up with loyal customers such as myself.

Two days ago, you may have heard on the news that a Jet Blue plane got stuck at JFK International (New York) and was left on the runway for EIGHT and a half hours.  There was a record-setting winter storm that was causing havoc and dumping feet of snow in the Northeast.  While the plane sat on the tarmack for all that time, the power was on and off (remember it's below freezing there), the toilets weren't working and the passengers weren't provided food.  Was there any excuse for this?  Jet Blue stated that because of the storms, air traffic was being diverted from other airports to JFK and so they "couldn't get an open gate to unload the passangers".  OK... first of all... there are always empty gates at airports, particularly ones as large as JFK.  Second, plan B would be to move the plane off the main runway, get a stair truck to the plane and offload the passengers onto shuttles back to the terminal.  That would have been the smart, and REASONABLE thing to do for valued customers.  But that's not what they did.  They didn't do anything.  FOR ALMOST NINE HOURS.

Back to this evening.  Our flight out of Vegas was a Red-Eye.  We were to leave at 11pm, with no stops or lay-overs, and arrive in DC at 6am Friday morning.  Mom went online earlier in the evening, checked the flight status and printed our boarding passes.  All was fine.  We went to the airport two hours early, and each checked a bag at the curb.  Still no indication that there was a problem.   Mom and I went to the gate, and stopped to have a snack at the cafe before the flight.  We sat in the cafe for about an hour and a half, discussing the itinerary for the weekend.  Our flight was due to board at 10:30pm so we left the cafe at about 10pm and headed for the gate.  Mind you, all seems normal.  There weren't any announcements to indicate any issues.  Just another routine night at the airport.

When we arrived at our gate, mom and I remarked at how empty the waiting area was.  We were thinking that the flight wasn't very full so we'd be able to stretch out and relax... maybe catch some sleep.  After we got settled in the waiting area to wait for boarding, I just HAPPENED to walk over to the ticket counter to make sure the flight was on time.  And all I saw was 'JET BLUE TO DULLES 11:00PM - CANCELLED'.  I immediately got mom and told her.  Like everyone else at the same time, we proceeded to get in line for the ticket agents to find out what to do.  Now, I have a degree in Travel and Tourism, so I know how these situations are suppose to go, although truthfully, in all our years and all the numerous flights and airports we've been through, neither mom nor I had ever had a flight cancelled.  But as I was taught in class, most airlines will go out of their way to find another flight for inconvenienced passengers, even on another airline if necessary.  Because passengers are SUPPOSED to be VALUED.  But, OK, not yet ready to completely freak out, we waited in line.  I also attempted to call a Jet Blue agent on my cell phone.  The first three times I called, Jet Blue was SO busy with customers they wouldn't even let me wait on hold.  The automated system just told us to call back later.  So, if it won't take calls from passengers, how can they be so busy with them?  There were four passengers in front of us going nowhere fast, so I figured I'd keep trying and see who got to us first, the phone agent or the gate agent.

On the fourth try, I managed to get through on the phone and was automatically placed on hold.  I was told my "estimated wait time was under 20 minutes".  OK... at 31 minutes, I was still on hold and we were finally up to the counter.  Mom had checked the departure monitors and saw that the other airlines were still flying into DC, so we were still hoping to get out sometime tonight.  Thinking it was the weather, I asked the ticket-agent why other airlines (United and others)  were still flying into DC.  This is where it gets really irritating:  The agent told us that the reason the flight was cancelled wasn't because of weather, but because the crew for our flight had "timed out" and they didn't have a replacement crew.  For those not familiar with the lingo, "Timed Out" in airline speak is the same as truck drivers only being allowed to drive so many hours a day.  However, that makes no sense in our situation.  The airline would have known HOURS in advance (not 1 hour before take-off), and would have been able to come up with another crew.  Crews that sit on runways for nine hours can "Time Out", but it's pretty hard to do when you don't have a plane and don't show up for an on-time flight!  Instead of finding 10 people to fly us out a little later, they just cancelled our flight all together.  They didn't delay it or attempt to get us there any other way.  One lady in line was going back for a funeral.  Even she didn't get any help.  We were willing to go to other airports half-way or even to lay-over somewhere to pick up a connection, but we were told all other eastbound Jet Blue flights were already full.  The ticket-agent made no attempt to check for other flights.  The first available flight was for late Sat. night, putting us into DC on Sunday morning.  Our return flight was for Tuesday evening.  However, they told us if we took another flight, they would "wave the changing fees".  Are you kidding me?  JET BLUE cancels our flight, then tells us we won't have to PAY for that cancellation??  When I asked them to book us on another airline, they refused, but said if we wanted to book with another airline they would refund the money for our tickets.  Well, DUH!!  We're not flying anywhere, why wouldn't we get a refund?!?  Then to add salt to the wound, our refund won't come through for seven to ten days, so even if we could have found another flight (do you have any idea what a last minute ticket costs?), we wouldn't have had the funds to do so.  They wouldn't even compensate us for the cancellation fees at the hotel in DC, which had a 48 four cancellation policy.

And so.... the vacation we were both looking forward to was cancelled.  Not delayed for a few hours, or even a day, and not because of some uncontrollable thing like a blizzard, but because Jet Blue just didn't care enough about their customers to arrange another flight team to fly the damn plane.

Please forward this to any friends or family members who may be thinking of flying on Jet Blue.  My mom will be leaving a review on Trip Advisor.com as well.  Perhaps they may not care about losing 200 passengers on my flight, or the flight stuck on the tarmack at JFK two days ago... but maybe the power of the internet can make them understand that they can't treat customers this way and expect to remain in business.

UPDATE:  Tuesday, February 20th, 2006

Well hello again friends.  Since I was NOT in Washington DC this past weekend as planned, I had ample opportunity to watch the news as Jet Blue managed to snowball this nightmare on customers for approx. 140 flights (including mine).  Contrary to the news reports, Jet Blue did NOT compensate us for the loss of our time; nor did we receive "free future flights", or even an apology for that matter fron anyone above the gate agents we dealt with on Thursday night.  The CEO of Jet Blue stated he is "humiliated" after the cancellations, and of course, the now infamous JFK flight that sat on the runway for almost 9 hours holding its passengers hostage (has anyone ever heard of False Imprisonment?).  Now the airline has created a passenger's "Bill of Rights" that states that if a flight is on the runway for five hours or more, those people will be taken back to the airport.  Oh, ya think??  I guess you don't have the right to get where you need to go.  The airline retains the right to screw over its passengers at will.

At long last! ONE MORE DAY!!

So here it is... my now MONTHLY  blog posting (remember two years ago when I was bloggling like twice a day?)   WTF happened??  Oh, yes.  MySpace Happened!  I am now 110% addicted to MySpace.  Not only am I constantly on my own space, but I'm building spaces for two coworkers AND I finally managed to get my mom over to the dark side as well!  Once she got on it, she was hooked as well.  If I were smart, I'd start charging people to build their MySpace for whatever theme they want.

Quite a bit has happened since the last blog entry.  At first, there wasn't much to tell.  I was actually laid up for a week with neck and back problems (yes again!)  My neursosurgeon (that did the last two back surgeries) did an MRI and then sent me to an orthopedic who promptly advised me its NOT my shoulder (well, DUH!) and so now I have to go back to the neuro to see if there is anything he can do.  Meanwhile, pain pills are the only thing helping.  I don't take them at work, but by the time I get home, I can barely turn my head or lift my arm.  Yeah.  It's a problem.   Meanwhile, back at my GP's office, the doc did my quarterly blood test and there was good news and bad.  Cholestorol is down, I'm no longer borderline diabetic, BUT my immune system is still way down.  Besides having fibromyalgia for the past 6 years, I've been on thyroid medicine for two.  Didn't seem to be working, so the Doc ordered an ultra-sound on my thyroid and there was "nodule".  Whatever the hell that means!  So now, I must go to a endocrinologist.  I'll be waiting until AFTER vacation.  It looks like I have all the symptoms of Hashimoto's Disease.  I'm sure we'll have oodles of more fun tests before we get the full story.

And speaking of vacation.... it's almost here!  Woo hoo!  Tomorrow is the last day of work, and mom and I leave on Thursday for DC!  My belated Christmas and birthday present.  A nice surprise I wasn't expecting is that I'm actually getting money back from the IRS, and I'm going to buy a new toy for the trip.  A new digital camera!  I've beaten the hell out of my Kodak over the past several years but it's bulky, being held together with tape and lord knows I could use some newer features.  So when I come back, I should have some cool pics!  Anyway, as I mentioned in past blogs, I went to DC in 1999 for the National Honor Guard and while we were there my partner and I got to see quite a bit, but with all the police events there were still a lot of things I missed.  I didn't even go NEAR the Smithsonian when I was there because I knew if I got in there, I wouldn't want to leave.  Now I've got a week to enjoy at MY leisure!  Also, since I was there, the WWII memorial has been completed, and I added my grandpa to it before he passed.  Since he doesn't have a grave, and he was so proud I put him on the memorial, I thought I'd take a rose down there for him.  I suspect I'll get emotional because I wasn't there when he died, and I wasn't there for his funeral either.  This is something I did for him and it meant a lot to both of us.  OK, enough of that... I'm starting to tear up already!

One of the other things is the Iwo Jima memorial.  While I have pictures with the smaller statue at Parris Island, I didn't get to see the big one when I was there.  No self-respecting Marine would admit to not  seeing it, so I'm on a mission!

Meanwhile, it's been very interesting in the jail the past few weeks.  They've been filming "COPS" in our jail for about the last 4 weeks.  Half of us try to avoid being on camera, and others are being spotlighted.  I never liked the show (cause cops always sound like idiots when a camera is running), but I just can't imagine why they would need four weeks of footage.  When I find out when its airing, I'll be sure to post it.  The really ironic part is that I always thought if I was going to be on "COPS", I would have BEEN a cop.  But, alas... now I'll be on "COPS" and I'm a freakin' civilian.  Sigh.  Where's the justice?

We had a celebrity in custody a couple weeks back.  Without just spitting out the name (confidentiality and disimination and all), I will say that he was the lead singer in a very popular 'big hair' band back when I was in high school (mid-80's).  There's talk of a comeback tour in Europe.  There was an arrest scandal about 20 years ago.  That's all I can say.  Anyway, he was very stoned (duuuude! I almost got a contact high.  Sweet!) but also very laid back and polite.  I interviewed him and gave him an O/R (the infamous 'get out of jail free card').  Other than that, it was a misdemeanor arrest and at least he was very cool for a celebrity.  Some of them can be major assholes and want special treatment and stuff.

And that's about it for now.  I have to get over to MySpace and work on one of the girl's background.  Funny, the one thing that always bugged me about MSN was that we couldn't use our own backgrounds.  NOT an issue with MySpace.  I change it all the time depending on mood.

And I guess my next blog will be all about vacation!  It's suppose to be really cold in D.C. right now too.  Great! Love the cold!  Here in Vegas, its been in the mid '70s.  Hello?? February?? Ever heard of a winter??  I'm actually hoping for a little snow while we're there, although I would have liked to see the cherry blossoms next month!

And so, it's come to this!

At this point, I don't even think I should bother with apologies for not blogging more often!  My next blog may be on Valentine's Day if I keep up this pace!  But I figure, this way at least I HAVE stuff to blog about!  I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and safe New Years.

   MUST BLOG!!!

So, let's see.  I'll start from where I left off, somewhere around Christmas.  As I mentioned, I worked on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  It was VERY slow!  A good thing I guess.  Course we always have a lot of Domestic Batteries on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  It's what I call "stupid husband syndrome".  Sit in front of the TV watching football, belching and farting and drinking beer while the wife sweats over a hot oven and turkey.  It only takes ONE WORD and bam!  A frying pan across the head.  And I do LITERALLY mean frying pans!  I've seen it more than once!

So after Christmas, I took a few days off for the dreaded birthday.  Yes, I'm officially 35 years old and that puts me in a whole new catagory for health risks (as if I needed anymore problems!).  I spent almost a week with my friends in California.  My birthday coincided with the closing of our favorite watering hole, Charlie's Bar.  A lot of friends came out, including some I hadn't seen in a really long time.  We bar-b-qued and started the party at my friend Rich's Pirate Bar.  It is the COOLEST bar ever!  They moved into a new apartment since I had been out in August. The new pad is on the ground floor and has a huge, partially covered patio.  Rich built this kick-ass pirate bar out there and we're all contributing pirate stuff for it.  I'll load pics in from the birthday.  We were suppose to go to Disneyland, but Kat was sick and since she was due for surgery the next week, we didn't want to push her getting well before the op.  Lord knows I of all people know about having to cancel plans for medical reasons!  So we just relaxed, hung out, watched movies and had a relaxing week.  After working so much time before Christmas, I think I was happy to just kick it and hang in our jammies!  We did go to dinner and a movie at my favorite OC Hangout (called 'the Block') and I was embarrassed by the whole birthday thing (even though it was a day late!).  It's particularly funny to me because I usually avoid birthday celebrations at all costs!  But I was having such a blast just hanging out without having a schedule or faire stuff to do.

BTW... side note!  Two movies I've seen that I recommend:  "Apocalypto" and "Night at the Museum".  A lot of people were wary of "Apocalypto" because it's Mel Gibson and after "Passion" any people were just going to avoid it.  It is a very good movie.  As for violence, not as much as "Passion" for sure... I might even say not as much as "Braveheart".  It is subtitled, but after the first few minutes, you don't even notice it anymore.  It's a good story and he did a good job on the historical part (the last big wave of Aztec sacrifices and slavery when crops failed right before the arrival of the Conquestadors.

Now, back to the main point of this blog.  I came back to work on New Year's day (didn't want to miss the holiday pay with vacation coming!) and we were SLAMMED at the jail.  Next year, I may just skip the whole fiasco!  Last year, nothing!  This year, I coudn't even keep track of the DUI's!  Only 1 month and 6 days til my Washington DC trip!  Woo hoo!!

Now for medical bad news.  My "BFF" Kat had to have her gall bladder taken out, after having a wicked cold or flu or whatever for a week.  Then the poor thing had a bad reaction to one of the medicines and wound up BACK in the hospital.  Would appreciate any help in keeping her in your prayers.  As for me, I'm in bad shape (no surprise there!).  I actually missed like 3 days of work this past week because I was laid up.  Back and neck.  Back seems to be the hardware in my lower back (arthritis and cold weather makes my titanium ache!), and we're hoping it's not a NEW problem (like another disk or more stenosis).  The neck is somthing I've been fighting since about April.  My Neurosurgeon told me it was all arthritis and NOT neurological, but since I'm still having problems, I guess they're going to send me to an orthopedic surgeon to see if something can be done.  I'm hoping whatever it is will at least be at a tolerable level when we go to DC next month.  Currently I'm on my usual cocktail of pain meds, muscle relaxers and anti-inflamatories but even so, I can't turn my head in either direction or back and forth.  Tonight I actually made it through a whole shift (with a heating bad and Alieve) but it was difficult.  Sigh.  Where's that damn bionic body I ordered??

My Gators are the National Champs!!  WAY TO GO GATORS!!!!  Hope the Seminoles are crying their eyes out.  What makes Univ. of Florida better than Florida State?  We have good football players AND they can spell too!  HA!

OK... I go back to work tonight and my work area in the jail was freshly painted.  Great... now I can get a contact high from the inmates AND the walls.  Why did we paint the walls?  Because apparently "COPS" has been filming in the jail all week.  I still don't know why they felt the need to paint!  They weren't talking to us.  Hell, they were clean at the other end of the booking area.  And we didn't even have any interesting inmates for them to catch.  The inmate that got Tazered would have been a BEAUTIFUL opportunity!  Ha, ha!  I was talking to a couple of the cameramen at lunch.  They were pretty nice so I decided not to tell them how much I hate their show!  Cops get on camera and start acting like complete idiots.  I'm still not sure why they were filming in the jail.  "COPS" films in Vegas like every other episode.  Whatever.

So my favorite singing comedian (Stephen Lynch) will be here in Vegas on St. Patty's Day!  Woo hoo!  Took the day off and now have to see about getting a ticket!

After a few weeks off, I'm counting down the days until my shows come back on.  "Rome" is back this Sunday, and "Battlestar Galactica" should be back a week from Sunday.  And then the big one... "LOST"... will be back on the first week of February and we'll get SIXTEEN new episodes!  I'm already salivating!

And so that's all I can think of right now.  Must go to bed!  Took drugs, must go to bed!  It is freakin' COLD here (not helping the arthritis)!  It was 42 degrees when I went to work at 3pm.  Suppose to be in the 20's over te weekend at night and they're SAYING we might get more snow like we had a couple of weeks ago!  That would be so cool!  Anyway, my heating pad awaits!  Slainte!!

A very blessed (and slightly late) Yule!

<>

Hard to believe another year is coming to an end!  Yesterday was the winter solstice, and so I wish everyone a magical yule (and a Merry Christmas, if that's your thing!)  I've been busy working overtime (saving for vacation in February).  Thursday was my only day off for the past week or so, and I'm working until Wednesday of next week.  Then... I'm taking a well deserved few days off to go hang with my pals in California.  Since yesterday was the only opportunity, and it was also Yule, we did the family thing.  We watched movies, made lasagna and exchanged gifts (no tree this year).  It was a nice evening.  Pumpkin got me an MP3 player, and I'm trying to figure out how to work it!  Ha, ha!

With the holiday season, comes another dreaded date..... DECEMBER 29TH.  Just sends chills down my back to think about it.  Yes, Virginia... it's yet another birthday.  The big "3-5" this year.  I'm not fond of birthdays (I actually ran away from home on my 30th to avoid a party!), but this year, I figured, why not?  Kat and Rich were going to take me to the pirate dinner show out in Cali, but everyone's pretty poor right after Christmas (another reason my birthdays suck!) so we decided to go to Disneyland instead.  HOPEFULLY, it won't be too crowded.  My family took me to Disney World back home in Florida one year, and it was SO crowded, we only got on two rides.  Well, I'll wait in line all day to see the new Pirates ride!

Well, as usual.... I'm the WORST person at giving and getting presents.  Mom managed to get me to tell her what the big Christmas present was for her and pumpkin.  I can't wait for anyone to open a present, least of all me.  Anyway, I got her and pumpkin tickets to the new "LOVE" show at the Mirage.  I gave them the CD sountrack and tucked the tickets inside.  It's a Cirque du Solei show featuring the Beatles music.  My mom LOVES the beatles and pumpkin likes any classic rock stuff.  I also got them a gift certificate to The Melting Pot.  Then pumpkin added a hotel room at the Mirage for tonight and tomorrow, so they're down on the strip playing tourists!

OK... so a very rare thing happened on Tuesday night!  We got SNOW here in Vegas!  Its only happened a few times in the 13 years I've lived here, but it's so cool.  There's actually still some in the backyard in the shadow of the house and all the surrounding mountains still have some on it.  Even a grinch like me can't resist feeling the 'spirit' with snow on the ground!  The pups went out back and they were walking around in it on their toes trying to figure out what to do with it.  Then they got frisky and started playing like they did when they were young and I used to take them up to the mountains to play in the snow fields.

I'm counting the days to my "christmas present"... just about 2 months today til the Washington vacation!  It's been a bit slower than normal at the jail lately, which is a nice relief.  I don't know if its the season, or what, but we were getting some serious wackos (even for us!) coming in.  Too many freaks to even narrow it down to a "freak of the week".

And so I'm here blogging at 1am and watching nothing interesting on TV.  I hate paid programming!  I'm still boycotting Walmart by the way.  I sent them a nasty email complaint and surprise!  Got no response whatsoever.  Eh.  I'm considering a blog and myspace smear campaign.  Anyone want to participate??

And with that... I'll close with a little history of the capricorn, for myself and anyone else who got shafted with a birthday right around Christmas!  I don't know if I'll blog again before new years, so if I don't... Happy Holidays and have a safe new years!

Capricorn! About Your Sign...

Capricorn is one of the most stable and (mostly) serious of the zodiacal types. These independent, rocklike characters have many sterling qualities. They are normally confident, strong willed and calm. These hardworking, unemotional, shrewd, practical, responsible, persevering, and cautious to the extreme persons, are capable of persisting for as long as is necessary to accomplish a goal they have set for themselves. They are reliable workers in almost any profession they undertake. They are the major finishers of most projects started by the 'pioneering' signs; with firm stick-to-it-ness they quickly become the backbone of any company they work for.

Capricornians make of themselves, resourceful, determined managers; setting high standards for themselves and others. They strive always for honesty in their criticism of self, they respect discipline from above and demand it from those beneath them. In their methodical, tough, stubborn, unyielding way, they persist against personal hardship, putting their families and/or their work before their own needs and welfare to reach their objectives long after others have given up and fallen by the wayside. In fact when practical ability allied with the drive of ambition are required in employees to make a project succeed, Capricornians are the people to hire. They plan carefully to fulfill their ambitions (which often include becoming wealthy), they are economical without meanness, and able to achieve great results with minimum effort and expense. Because of their organizing ability they are able to work on several projects simultaneously.

Time to play catch up!

It seems that when I actually have an opportunity to blog lately, that I always have to apologize for NOT blogging more.  The dreaded holiday season is once again upon us, and as usual, it came even earlier this year.  The winner for starting the disgusting Christmas commericals early this year?  EXPEDIA.com   WTF people??  The second week of OCTOBER?!  Please let us halloween lovers have our day before cramming yet more commericalism and faux holiday spirit down our necks, please?

Before I start rattling off all that's been happening in the 3 weeks since my last blog posting, I ask EVERYONE to please click on the link about and by all means, pass this information on to everyone you know.  The website goes to a video, and while it starts a little slow, the information contained my shock you.  Please pay particular attention to the census information prevented on the graphs and charts.

Everyone knows my stance on illegal immigration to America... basically if it were as easy to get into and work in a UK or European country as it is to get into America, I'd have moved there YEARS ago.  But isn't that easy.  As proved by the numerous people I see coming into our jail with multiple deportations in their histories.  They just keep coming back, like cockroaches.  And they bring others.  Many who have been deported also have added "alien smuggling" to their records.  A recent headline here in Vegas touted that hispanic students in our county outnumber every other ethnicity, and as I already mentioned in a previous blog entry, our schools are now requiring students to learn in both spanish and english.  Instead of forcing Americans to learn spanish, why not force the hispanics to speak American?  By catering to them, it just makes them want to stay and bring others.  I can also attest to the fact that the same thing is true of inmates.  It is becoming prominent that more and more people are coming in and expecting us to speak spanish.  In fact, if I learn it, I can get paid more to do the same job I'm doing now.

My biggest beef?  Illegal immigrants take work from Americans and pay no taxes.  Now our people are suffering and collecting welfare while the number of children of illegal immigrants (yep, you had a kid on American soil, you's an american now! Stupid law.) continues to rise without restrictions (again, look at the charts in the video) and we REAL americans who DO pay taxes, get taxed more to pay for more schools to teach the illegal kids in Spanish!  It's ridiculous, and with the stupid ACLU backing them about civil liberites being violated (BTW, Liberal dumbasses, civil rights belong to CITIZENS, not illegal immigrants.), it seems more citizens would prefer to hide their heads in the sand than fight back.  I've been told for a long time that I probably will never see the social security I've already paid half my life for, but our own government is passing laws to allow ILLEGALs to collect my social security!  Of course they want to come here!  Live the American dream???  They live BETTER than real Americans dream!!

My new term for this whole thing is "ANCESTRIAL KARMA".  Yep.  We did it to the native americans when we came to America, and now its being done to us.  Same thing.  Will it take placing native-born Americans on reservations so Illegals can rape and maim and kill without fear of retribution?  Oh, right.  They'll go to prison for a while.  Let me tell you about THAT reality!  Our jails and prisons are 5-Star hotels compared to those in Mexico.  Three square meals a day, cable TV, hell!  We'll even let you take your citizenship classes while you do time for raping our children (don't even ASK me how often that's been happening lately).  So you when you get out of prison for whatever you did,  your family can come over too because you done became a citizen, again... on OUR tax dollars.  I would rather pay the $35,000 a year PER INMATE to the Mexican government if they will take their damn criminals back and let them do their time in a REAL third-world prison in Mexico instead of our hotel-like facilities.  Why not come here and commit crime?  They live better in our jails and prisons than most do at home in Mexico.  Will we have to become over-populated like China before we put a stop to this??  Will the most prosperous and most powerful country in the world have to be reduced to a shit-hole like Mexico before our government does something?  MY SINCERE APPRECIATION AND BACKING FOR THE MINUTE MEN PATROLLING OUR SOUTHERN BORDERS.   PLEASE watch this clip.... as much as I see happening everyday where I work, even I was astounded by the reality of the information in the video.

ANOTHER GOOD ARTICLE HERE

Eagle

And a website too

OK.... whew.  Deep breath.  This subject gets me very hot, very quickly.  Now let me tell you a bit about the past few weeks.  My first excuse for not blogging more, I worked 12 straight days at the jail, including the Thanksgiving holiday.  The folks left the day before Thanksgiving to go for the holiday in California with my aunt and her family.  From there, they spent a week in San Diego, and are currently spending a week cruising on the Mexican Riviera (I never have understood why they call it that cause it's NOT!).  They should be back on Saturday.  It was actually pretty slow the past couple of weeks, but that all came screeching to an abrupt end on Monday when it seemed the full moon, the rodeo and the music awards all converged on Vegas at the same time.  It was CRAZY busy the past couple of days!  And the inmates have been weird too (now that is saying something, since many are nuts all the time anyway); fighting and lying and mouthy.  I really am here to help you fuck-tards, so you might just want to be cooperative with me if you want that magic 'get out of jail free' card.  Sheesh.

The horrible holiday season is here again, and so are the rude people.  Now, knowing I'm wiccan and no longer celebrate Christmas formerly (yule is our sabbat for winter), it never ceases to amaze me how completely rude and hypocritical people get at this time of year.  I had quite an incident with a bitch at our Walmart the day before thanksgiving.  Needless to say, I won the verbal sparring but the whole tale is one better told in person.  Just know, my first interaction with the holidays this year left me wishing I lived in some cave somewhere a thousand miles away from any person, store or freeway.  Yes, tis the season to be warm and jolly and giving except of course when you want to be a selfish, bad mannered, rude and act like a complete idiot just so you can get a toy or the last box of stuffing at the store.  Great example for your kids too (the bee-och at Walmart had two boys about 4 and 6 years old that were better behaved than their mother, that's for sure!).  I'm so glad everyone remembers why Christmas is a holiday in the first place.  I'm pretty sure if you ask the line of 40 or so idiots that have been sitting in the Walmart parking lot for two days waiting on the ten allotted Wii or Playstation III units, they won't tell you anything about Christmas except getting the hot game for his rotten kids that probably haven't done anything to earn it.  What do you tell your boss and kids anyway, when you disappear for a couple of days to sit in a parking lot at 30 degrees?   Come on January!!

The big 3-5 is swiftly approaching as well.  Ick.  Hate birthdays.  I've actually been known to run away from any attempt to celebrate such horrid birthdays as "25", oh and "30"... that one was particularly hard.  But this year, I'm thinking I'll try EMBRACING the evil day.  I took sometime off and will be spending that weekend (birthday & new years) with my friends in California.  They've promised to take me to the Pirate Dinner Show, so I've got something to look forward too!  Besides, with our trip to Washington DC in February (my Christmas/Birthday present from mom), and the fact that since my ex-best bitch.. .er, um... FRIEND.... has inserted herself at the Palm Springs faire in March (it's NOT a big enough faire for the both of us) where our friend is getting married, I probably won't get to see the Cali gang again until some time in May.  I'm determined to go to Big Faire this year.  I missed the last two years, since they moved to a new location near Covina.

Big KUDO's for our neighbors in Pahrump, Nevada for making English the "official" language of their town.  Way to go guys!  It's said that they had to actually MAKE it a law when it should have been assumed, but at least SOMEBODY did it!  As for the anti-smoking initiative, people have already started losing jobs as bars/restaurants have had to either close the kitchen or not allow smoking at the bar.  As always, people didn't think this through (and didnt' read the reasons and rubuttals in the early voting booklet), more worried about their kids getting second hand smoke.  First of all, most of those people don't even GO to bars (due to a prominent religion in these parts), and two, your kids don't belong in bars to begin with.  Don't want to be around smoke, take your kids to Chuck E. Cheese!  I went to Ihop the other day for breakfast and my waitress says, there's no more smoking section (where I usually sit away from all the screaming kids so I can read and eat in relative peace and quiet).  I actually didn't think the law went into effect until the 7th, but whatever.  They don't even let people smoke OUTSIDE on the patio!!  It's like freakin' Disney Land in California with their TWO "designated smoking areas" in the whole park.  DUH!  We're OUTSIDE... I don't think we're going to contaminate the entire airspace over town.  So, OK... Californias move here and whine about smoking (cause there isn't any indoors there) until they number enough to get the bill passes BUT, the in thing for people moving here now is real WOOD-BURNING fireplaces instead of the standard clean-burning gas.  You're worried about my stinkin' cigarette when we have daily smog thicker than Los Angeles hanging over the valley and our daily health alert for outside is EXTREMELY unhealthy.  Yeah, our weather men actually tell us to stay inside if at all possible to avoid the smog.  Yep.  That was my little cigarette and not your gas-hogging, unregistered, unsmogged vehicles and wood-burning fireplaces causing that icky brown air that complete obscures the Las Vegas strip from anywhere in the valley.  What a bunch of morons.  I wonder how easy it is to move to Canada?  Anyone know of a really cute Irish or Englishman across the pond wanting an Amazon-type, mail-order bride?  No???

And I just bought my mum and her pumpkin their Christmas present.  My mother is hard to shop for and pumpkin never uses any of the gifts I get him.  Mom suggested a gift certificate for him to "Camping World" and she wanted yet another stamping kit.  I thought about it and I'm like, ok.... pumpkin makes twice as much money as I do and has already bought a flat-screen TV and walkie talkies for the camper.  What the hell would he do with another gift certificate?  He gives me money, I give him a gift certificate... it's just a big circle.  And my mom buys stamps ALL the time and I just wasn't going to do it.  So... I got them a gift together that they will use on Dec. 23rd.  They don't know what it is and I'm not saying (in case they scan my blog looking for clues.. muwah, ha, ha!!!) so I'll have to let everyone know after that date.  I'm pretty sure they're going to LOVE it!  I'm such a good kid!!

And after all that ranting, I guess I'm done blogging for now.  Had I blogged sooner, I wouldn't have NEARLY as much to blog about!

Remember our Vets

First off... there just doesn't seem to be a whole lot of people left in Blog-Land.  I can't really throw stones about defectors to MySpace as I myself have become addicted.  It seems that maybe the great blog-craze is coming to an end.   My life hasn't really been eventful enough to blog more than once every week or two.  BUT... this week was actually pretty eventful.

I'd like to start by saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my fellow marines out there, and also please remember today is Veteran's Day, so if you know a Vet, tell them thank you for their service.

Let's see... we had voting this week and Nevada has taken one step closer to being a nazi-state like California.  What do we expect when 4,000 people move here from Cali every month.  If California is so freakin' great, please feel free to go back there!  Beginning next month, you will no longer be able to smoke in restaurants here in Nevada and you won't be able to smoke in bars that serve food.  So the bars either have to stop serving food, or customers can't smoke.  Everyone's all like, "my kids are being subjected to second-hand smoke!"  What the hell are your kids doing in a bar?  If you don't like smoking, go to Chuck E. Cheese.  Meanwhile, I never see a bill trying to pass for a CHILD-Free restaurant.  You can't deal with my quiet second-hand smoke but I HAVE to deal with your loud, obnoxious, disobedient kids?  I'd rather sit in a small room with 30 smokers.

The Marijuana act came closer this year than last time.  53% against, 47% for.  Maybe by next election, we'll get it legalized.  Stupid people.  Yes, I'm a cop that wants marijuana legalized.  Everyone has it anyway, we might as well get the tax dollars and regulate it.  I constantly see people being booked on $200 bail misdemeanor marijuana possession.  Arresting, booking, court costs (if they show up), warrant costs (when they don't) and then they usually get credit time served anyway.  I don't even want to KNOW how much money and work-hours go into these piddley arrests while we are being overwhelmed by Methamphetamine and Cocaine.  Makes perfect sense, right?  They could also use the taxes for funding education for all the damn mormans and illegals trying to single-handedly overpopulate the country in one generation instead of taxing people like me who have NO kids and never will!  GRRRRRR!  ALmost everything in our state government has now gone democrat.  Ugh.  I think I'll move to Canada.  Or back to the south.  Actually, maybe a cave somewhere deep in Ireland where no one will find me and I won't know what I'm missing!

Speaking of government, I did my civic duty the other day for Homeland Security.  A muslim from Ethiopia came in and while running his background, there was nothing EXCEPT a flag in his FBI records stating that he was an "inadmissable Alien".  I didn't know for sure what that meant, but "Inadmissable" sounds like he shouldn't be sitting in my jail, right?  I notified the Lieutenant and intell and when I left they were still going through a series of interviews.  Just listening to some of it, it was clear something was hinkey cause his story kept changing and then he'd forget how to speak what little English he did at very opportune times.  The he said he had "asylum".  Ummmm.... no!  You don't just GET asylum.  Especially if you're not suppose to be here in the first place!  When I went home, they were going to have some of the big intell guys come in from H.S. to figure out what he was all about.  That was my own pat on the back for the week.  For everyone who keeps telling me to "stop thinking like a cop" cause I'm a civilian now... I say HA!  You can take the girl out of the uniform, but .... well.  You know!
